UMass men’s basketball point guard Noah Fernandes has entered the transfer portal, he announced on both Twitter and Instagram on Monday.

The senior from Mattapoisett spent three years in Amherst after playing for Wichita State his freshman year. He averaged 13.1 points per game over 65 games. Fernandes started 63 of those games and distributed 4.7 assists per game to go along with 3.3 rebounds per contest.

“The past three years have been amazing, and as I get older and look back at my time at UMass I will always be grateful and appreciative of all of the experiences, my teammates, my dogs, I appreciate each and every one of you guys, I could not be in this position without you guys,” Fernandes wrote. “I appreciate my coaches, and I appreciate my family for all of the support you have given me on the way.”

Injuries limited Fernandes to just 11 games this season. He originally injured himself against Harvard on Dec. 5 and didn’t appear after Jan. 11 against La Salle.

Fernandes will have one more season of eligibility remaining as a grad transfer.

“Thank you to the University of Massachusetts, for encouraging a small town kid from your backyard to do great things,” Fernandes wrote. “I am excited to go on this new journey and find another home.”
