Frontier’s Caroline Crocker will be competing against the best Massachusetts has to offer on Saturday.

Crocker impressed at the MIAA Div. 5 state meet last week at the Reggie Lewis Center, placing second in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.78 seconds.

The mark was good enough to secure a spot in the Meet of Champions on Saturday, where the top performers in each division come together to compete in one meet. The Meet of Champions will also be held at the Reggie Lewis Center, getting underway at 10:30 a.m.

Crocker will enter with the 18th fastest time in the 55 hurdles, hoping to put up a season-best run on Saturday.

“This is great because she’s put in an awful lot of work,” Frontier coach Bob Smith said of Crocker. “She’s worked so hard on her technique and form. This week she’s been working on her speed between the hurdles. We’re hoping the whole package comes together and she has a good day and can end the season with her best time.”

It’s Crocker’s third season doing hurdles, missing her sophomore year due to COVID. In those three years, Smith has seen her grow by leaps and bounds.

“When she arrived she was a natural in the hurdles,” Smith said. “It was a no brainer to put her there. She’s developed her technique and form so much over the three years. She’s really improved and it shows out on the track.”
