Softball Roundup: Turners Falls completes regular season sweep over Greenfield following 5-0 victory

As expected in a game between the Turners Falls and Greenfield softball teams, runs weren’t going to be easy to come by.
The Thunder opened the game with a two-run home run from Marilyn Abarua while Madi Liimatainen didn’t allow a run in the circle, allowing Turners to walk away with a 5-0 victory at Vets Field on Friday.
Mia Marigliano knocked two hits and drove in two, Janelle Massey knocked a hit and drove in a run while Liimatainen and Ameliya Galbraith doubled for the Thunder (8-3), which secured the regular season sweep of Greenfield. Liimatainen struck out 15, gave up two hits and walked three in the win.
MacKenzie Paulin struck out 10 and tripled at the plate for the Green Wave (7-3) while Anna Bucala singled in the loss.
Mohawk Trail 19, Athol 13 — Abby Moffatt was a home run away from the cycle while Emmalee Inman and Elissa Delisle each singled and doubled for the Warriors in a Franklin County League East win over the Bears in Buckland Friday.
Bella Brown, Aurora Moynahan and Ashleigh Billiel each knocked two hits, Grace Stevens struck out eight while Sadie Wilcox added three strikeouts for Mohawk Trail.
Madi Hermes tripled and singled while Ella Reed tripled for Athol.
Franklin Tech 4, Northampton 0 (8) — Hannah Gilbert was dominant in the circle on Friday, striking out 18 and allowing a mere one hit — which came in the eighth — while not surrendering a walk, propelling the Eagles to a Franklin County League East victory in extra innings in Northampton Friday.

Scoreless after seven inning, Emma Petersen and Lindsey Taylor opened the eighth with singles, Gilbert knocked an RBI single, Kylee Gamache proceeded to drive in two with an RBI single before Sandra Johnson, running for Gamache, scored on an error to give Tech its 4-0 lead.
Gamache added a triple in the winning effort.

Riley Tine recorded her first career varsity hit, Evva Campbell brought in two with a double while Raine Wonsey struck out 12 and allowed just four hits in the win.
Hopkins 12, Mahar 0 (5) — Cassie Dion tossed a five-inning no hitter for the Golden Hawks to knock off the Senators in a Franklin County League East contest in Hadley Friday.
SICS 3, Pioneer 2 — The Bulldogs rallied in the seventh, scoring three in the final frame to earn a comeback win over the Panthers in Springfield Friday.
Maggie Tsipenyuk recorded two hits and drove in a run while Jaelyn Boliski, Taylor Chase and Natalie Johnson hit safely for Pioneer.
Jaelyn Boliski recorded 10 strikeouts in the loss, putting the eighth grader at 100 for her career.
