Indoor track: Mahar’s Mitchell Krasco wins event at PVIAC Meet No. 5

The fifth PVIAC indoor track meet of the season took place on Sunday at Smith College, with Frontier, Mahar and Mohawk Trail competing in the early session while Greenfield and Pioneer competed in the late session. 

Here are the top performers from each team: 

Frontier

The Frontier boys picked  up wins over Hampshire (48-47) and Mahar (66-27) while the Redhawk girls also beat the Raiders (71-24) and the Senators (77-17). 

On the boys side, Ben Cachiguango earned third in the 55-meter hurdles (8.75 seconds), Jack Storm placed eighth in the 55 (7.10) and seventh in the long jump (17 feet, 9.5 inches), Aidan Valderrama came in sixth in the 600 (1:33.76) and eighth in the high jump (5-6) and Charles Dennis placed fourth in the mile (5:01.15). 

On the girls side, Hannah Davis placed fifth in the 55 hurdles (9.93), Josie Fosnot finished 10th in the 300 (46.98), Nicole Plasse earned fifth in the 600 (1:51.40), Addison Morrey took sixth in the 1,000 (3:27.35) and seventh in the mile (5:55.36), Leah Gump earned seventh in the 2 mile (12:51.16), Maia Christensen placed fifth in the high jump (4-6) while Lilly Novak earned third in the shot put (29-2.75). 

Greenfield

The Greenfield boys beat Southwick (60-29) but the Ram girls beat the Green Wave (36-23). 

On the boys side, Mason Youmell came in second in the 600 (1:36.98), Jackson Caron placed second in the 1,000 (2:51.56) and third in the mile (4:58.55), Jerry Ven came in second in the shot put (36-8.75), Dylan Breiwick placed eighth in the mile (5:33.41) and fourth in the 2 mile (12:06.63) and Alex Scotera earned sixth in the 2 mile (12:36.48) and 10th in the 1,000 (3:24.30). 

On the girls side, Lauren Helie came in seventh in the 600 (2:06.76), Julia Belville placed sixth in the high jump (4-2), Bianca Reynolds finished in 11th in the shot put (21-4.75) and Emelia Gray took 12th in the long jump (12-6.5). 

Mahar

The Mahar boys beat Mohawk Trail (61-27) but fell to Frontier (66-27) while the Senator girls fell to the Redhawks (77-17) and the Warriors (50-27). 

On the boys side, Mitchell Krasco won the 55 hurdles (8.45), Mathieu Soucy placed third in the 55 (6.94), Jayden Dicato came in fifth in the shot put (33-10.5) while David Phelps took eighth in the 55 hurdles (9.65). 

On the girls side Stellina Moore came in sixth in the 55 hurdles (10.10), ninth in the long jump (14-0) and fourth in the high jump (4-10), Kathryn McGinnis placed eighth in the high jump (4-4) while Madilyn Moore came in sixth in the shot put (26-8.25). 

Mohawk Trail

The Mohawk Trail girls beat Mahar (50-27) but the Warrior boys fell to the Warriors (61-27). 

On the boys side, Chay Mojallali won the high jump (6-2) and came in fifth in the 55 hurdles (9.03), Peter Healy took seventh in the 2 mile (11:01.63) while Carson Richardson placed 16th in the 2 mile (12:04.41). 

On the girls side, Virginia Krezmien placed fifth in the 1,000 (3:26.96), fourth in the 2 mile (12:33.57) and sixth in the high jump (4-6), Sophia Goodnow took fifth in the shot put (27-7.75) and Avery Johnston came in 11th in the shot put (25-6). 

Pioneer

The Pioneer boys earned wins over Hampden Charter East (52-12) and Southwick (41-29), as did the Panther girls which beat Hampden Charter East (65-7) and the Rams (49-28). 

On the boys side, Griffin de Ruiter took eighth in the 300 (40.41), Ty Ellis placed 10th in the 600 (1:56.64), Ryan Spofford came in 10th in the mile (5:38.71) and Lorenzo Bordas took 12th in the 600 (2:02.44). 

On the girls side, Louise Flagollet won the high jump (5-0) and took second in the 300 (47.85), Sahana Heilman came in fourth in the 55 hurdles (10.25), third in the long jump (13-11.25) and fourth in the mile (6:41.90), Emmanuelle Flagollet placed fifth in the 55 hurdles (10.31), Daniela Teaca took 10th in the 300 (50.55) and Natalie Johnson placed seventh in the shot put (22-1.75).
