Wednesday, June 23

11:06 a.m. – Caller reported discovery of a hypodermic needle at the intersection of Brookside Road and Lois Street.

11:19 a.m. – Traffic stop at East Main Street and Wheeler Avenue for same vehicle cited a few days earlier for failure to have vehicle inspected.

11:56 a.m. – Safety hazard issue reported on New Athol Road of a leaking propane tank from a gas grill on the back of a truck.

12:02 to 2:09 p.m – Sixteen traffic stops for speeding in the East and West River streets area.

12:24 p.m. – A 10-year-old who had taken off on foot toward the library, was reunited with their family near the library. Child was located sitting behind the library.

3:33 p.m. – Water Street traffic stop for failure to stop for a red light.

5:23 p.m. – Daniel Shays Highway motor vehicle accident, no injuries. One vehicle apparently failed to use care in slowing down rear-ended the other vehicle. Both vehicles were moved out of the roadway and into the driveway of Crimson Acres Equestrian Center.

6:47 p.m. – While driving through Athol, Royalston Police reported finding a wallet belonging to an Orange resident. Picked up later in the shift and returned.

8:33 p.m. – East Main Street caller reported a couple of mini bikes and a 4-wheeler racing around the grass on the steep slope, east side of the Walmart building and the 4-wheeler had tipped over. Officer not able to make contact.

11:09 p.m. – East River Street caller requested assistance with someone sending them harassing text messages who would not stop doing it when asked by reporting party to do so. Advised of Harassment Prevention Order (HPO) option, and blocking that number. Voicemail was left by police advising subject of complaint and requested to stop.

Thursday, June 24

9:01 a.m. – Enfield Drive caller reported finding two bikes in the woods across the street. Articles recovered.

10:46 a.m. – North Main Street caller reported a chunk of tree had fallen in the road. Highway department notified.

11:04 a.m. – Orange Highway Department reported vandalism on the bandstand. Three wooden balusters had been broken in the past two days.

11:41 a.m. – OPD assisted Athol PD locating a Holtshire Road vehicle that had been involved in a possible hit-and-run in Athol the previous day. Vehicle located and pictures of fresh damage sent to Athol PD.

12:45 p.m. – West Main Street caller reported a threat made on their life by another individual. Both involved parties were spoken to and had different accounts of the incident. Both were advised of their HPO options through the court.

12:57 p.m. – Officer requested at East Main Street by caller who had tools and equipment missing from their property. Report taken.

5:54 p.m. – Caller from Daniel Shays Highway wasn’t sure if they had just received a scam call from someone claiming to be from Medicare. Officer advised the reporting party to advise their provider. Report of the possible scam was also now on record.

6:45 p.m. – Police mediated possible disturbance in the Brookside Road area. Both parties were spoken with and the argument was found to be verbal in nature. Both parties went their separate ways for the night.
