Lilly Ross reached the century mark, and the Franklin Tech softball team continued its perfect start to the season on Wednesday.

Ross smacked an RBI single in the bottom of the third inning for the 100th hit of her varsity career, and the Eagles improved to 7-0 in 2024 via a 22-10 Franklin County League East win over Northampton at Nancy Gifford Field in Turners Falls.

“Lilly is a kid who has put a lot of work in as a softball player and as a person,” Tech coach Joe Gamache said. “Her personal goal was to get to the 100-hit plateau and got that today. She’s a leader on the team and someone the younger kids look up to. This is a great milestone for her.”

The RBI was part of an nine-run third frame. Ross finished the outing 3-for-4 with a double, while Hannah Gilbert and Gianna DiSciullo each had two hits in the win. Cordelia Guerin added a home run for the home team.

Northampton scored eight times in the top of the fourth to pull within 11-9, but the Eagles settled in and held on from there. Brayleigh Burgh struck out six in the circle before Ross struck out the final two batters.

Frontier 18, Pioneer 0 (5) – Three home runs, two from Skyler Steele, helped the Redhawks to a fourth win in their last five games on Wednesday at Zabek Field in South Deerfield.

Steele was 3-for-3 and added a double, helping Frontier score 11 runs in the first inning to set the tone in what was the team’s highest-scoring output of the season. Delaney Fifield also smacked a home run as part of a two-hit, four-RBI outing for the Hawks (5-4).

Hailey Hutkoski added two hits and Ashley Taylor scored three runs for the hosts. Raine Wonsey tossed a five-inning shutout, striking out four and allowing five hits.
