Last week, the LaRose campaign secured a pair of endorsements from two labor groups, the Massachusetts AFL-CIO and the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters.

LaRose, a Democrat, is challenging incumbent Susannah Whipps, an independent, for State Representative in the 2nd Franklin District.

The North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters represents 28,000 carpenters, pile drivers, shop and millmen, and floorcoverers working throughout New England and New York State. The press release said the Massachusetts AFL-CIO serves as the unified voice of all organized workers in the Commonwealth and aims to improve the lives of working families by working for economic, social and racial justice in the workplace, in our communities, our state and in our nation.

The AFL-CIOs political director, Kevin Brousseau, wrote the following:

“We are proud to support candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to the values and principles of the Labor Movement. On behalf of President Steven Tolman and our nearly half a million members across the Commonwealth, we would like to congratulate you on earning the endorsement of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO. We look forward to advocating on your behalf and working together to create a brighter future for working people in Massachusetts.”
