Back in April, the Frontier softball team handed Greenfield its first and only loss of the season thus far.

The Green Wave got their revenge on Tuesday. 

MacKenzie Paulin limited the Redhawks to one hit, striking out 11 and only walking two, helping Greenfield pull out a 4-1 Franklin County League West victory at Vets Field. 

Grace Laurie blasted a hit to drive in two runs, Ivy Rae and Ellis Benitez each recorded a hit and an RBI while Ainslee Flynn hit safely for the Green Wave. 

Frontier seventh grader Raine Wonsey limited Greenfield to four hits, striking out two in six innings work in the circle. Skyler Steele cracked Frontier’s lone hit, with Sophia Pinardi driving in a run in the loss. 

Turners 3, Wahconah 1 — The Thunder broke through with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to come away with a Franklin County League West victory over the Warriors at Gary Mullins Field Tuesday. 

Janelle Massey smashed a hit up the middle, Madisyn Dietz followed with a hit before Ella Kolodziej tripled to center to drive both in and give Turners the lead in the fifth. Mia Marigliano singled and Holly Myers later hit a sacrifice fly to score her in the sixth. 

Madi Liimatainen allowed three hits and struck out 11 in the circle for the Thunder. 

Pioneer 12, SICS 11 — Kelly Baird cracked a double and scored on a passed ball to propel the Panthers to a victory over the Bulldogs in Northfield Tuesday. 

Avery Johnson blasted a triple, a single and drove in two runs, Laylah Goulston doubled and singled, Jacobia Tyminski knocked two hits and drove in a run, Allie Clary recorded three hits and an RIB, Baird added two singles and drove in two runs while striking out eight in the circle in the win. 

Baseball

Athol 8, Franklin Tech 4 — The Bears led 4-1 going into the sixth when the Eagles put three runs on the board to tie the game. 

Athol didn’t fret, scoring four runs in the bottom of the frame to take an 8-4 lead. The Bears shut Tech down in the seventh to earn a Bi-County North victory in Athol Tuesday.

It was Riley Young who put the Bears back ahead in the sixth with a double that drove in three runs. Logan Cormier knocked three hits and drove in a run, E Arias Cepeda recorded a double and an RBI while Hunter Smith doubled for Athol. Cormier struck out 11 and allowed two hits in 5 1/3 work and Dom St. Andre got the Bears out of the jam in the sixth, not allowing a hit in 1 1/3 innings on the mound. 

Hunter Donahue and Gavin Crossman hit safely while Ben Dodge drove in two runs for Franklin Tech. Mason Lehtomaki struck out seven in the loss. 

Frontier 14, Easthampton 4 (5) — Rosco Palmer stayed hot at the plate for the Redhawks, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, propelling Frontier to a Suburban League West victory in Easthampton Tuesday. 

Jack Conlon tallied three hits and three RBIs, Nico Fasulo launched a triple, a single and drove in a run, Wyatt Edes recorded a hit and three RBIs, Grayson Loos had a hit and an RBI while Ben Caron knocked a double for the Redhawks. Aidan Heffernan struck out three and allowed two hits in three innings work in the victory. 

Turners 5, Mahar 4 — After the Senators scored three to tie the game in the fifth, the Thunder walked it off in the bottom of the seventh to earn a Bi-County North victory in Turners on Tuesday. 

Jackson Cogswell smashed an RBI double, Derek Wissmann tallied a hit and an RBI while Kainen Stevens and Deven Sloan hit safely while Dylen Richardson struck out seven for Turners. 

Matt Vitello cracked three hits and drove in a run, Luke Connors recorded a hit and an RBI, Lucas Isrow and David Vitello doubled while Jayden Delgado hit safely for Mahar. Sam Connors and Morgan Softic combined for seven strikeouts in the loss. 

Girls tennis

Mohawk Trail 3, Renaissance 2 — A clean sweep in singles propelled the Warriors to a victory in Buckland Tuesday. 

Palmer King earned a 6-0, 6-1 win in No. 1 singles, Hazel Foucault picked up a 6-0, 6-0 triumph in No. 2 singles while Carolyn Aubrey won 6-3, 6-2 in No. 3 singles for Mohawk Trail. 

Chicopee 3, Frontier 2 – The Redhawks swept the doubles matches, but Chicopee won three tight singles matches to snag the victory.

Thanushi Ratnatunge and Araceli McCoy won a 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) decision at No. 1 doubles, while the second doubles pairing of Esther Ehle and Kayla Fagan scored a 6-3, 6-0 win.

Boys tennis

Lenox 3, Frontier 1 — Oliver Brown and Brayden Reipold picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win in No. 1 doubles in the Redhawks’ loss to the Millionaires on Tuesday in South Deerfield. 

West Springfield 3, Turners 2 — Mike Boyle won 6-2, 6-0 in No. 1 singles while Noah Kolodziej earned a 6-3, 6-0 win in No. 2 singles for the Thunder in a loss to the Terriers on Tuesday in Turners. 

Boys track

Greenfield 84, Mahar 61 — Jon Breor won the javelin (110 feet, 10 inches) and discus (116-10) while Dylan Breiwick took the 800 (2 minutes, 21.2 seconds) and 2 mile (12:17.1) in the Green Wave’s victory over the Senators in Greenfield Tuesday. 

Rounding out the Greenfield winners were Erik Martineau in the high jump (5-10), Jerry Ven in the shot put (37-10.25), Jackson Caron in the mile (4:45.2) and Krish Patel in the 400 (58.0). The Green Wave won the 4x100 (46.7) and 4x400 (3:45.2) relays. 

For Mahar, Mitchell Krasco won the triple jump (40-10.25), 110 hurdles (15.4) and 400 hurdles (1:00.9), Dom Whitman took the long jump (19-3.75), Coltin Fausett took the pole vault (9-0) while Mathieu Soucy won the 100 (11.2) and 200 (23.9). 

 Girls track

Mahar 81, Greenfield 62 — Nevaeh Scribner had a big day for the Sens, winning the long jump (13-11.5), high jump (4-10), triple jump and the 400 (64.8) in Mahar’s victory in Greenfield Tuesday. 

Other Senator winners were Madilyn Moore in the shot put, Stellina Moore in the pole vault (8-6) and 100 hurdles (18.3) and Taylor Paluk in the 400 hurdles (1:32.1). Mahar won the 4x100 relay (59.6). 

Greenfield winners were Ava  Fortin in the javelin (76-2), mile, 800 and 2 mile, Starasia Rosario in the discus (59-9), Tayler Bergeron in the 100 (14.2) and McKenzie Boswell in the 200. The Green Wave won the 4x400 relay.

Turners 3, McCann Tech 2 — A three-run fourth inning powered the Thunder past the Hornets in North Adams on Monday. 

Alex Quezada struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings work, Dylen  Richardson smashed two hits, one a double, and drove in two runs while Jackson Cogswell doubled for Turners.
