Bulletin Board: Turners to vote Tuesday on naming pool after longtime swim coach

The pool at Turners Falls High School may soon have a new name. 

The Gill-Montague School Committee is voting Tuesday on whether to name the pool after longtime Turners swim coach and teacher Wesley Snapp. Snapp started the swim program at Turners and helped lead it to multiple league championships. 

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. 

JV softball

It was a solid start to the season for the Greenfield JV softball team, earning wins over Mount Greylock, 24-0, on Monday and 21-0 over Hampshire on Wednesday. 

Olivia Lemay tossed a no-hitter against the Raiders while Lyla Mickiewicz had a pair of hits and six RBIs in the win. Against the Mounties, Lemay had a grand slam and seven RBIs while Grace Laurie and Meghan Collins each had multiple hits. 

Deerfield results

It was a good day for both Deerfield Academy lacrosse teams on Wednesday, the DA boys beating Berkshire, 10-6, while the girls defeated St. Mark’s, 13-5. 

Also on Wednesday the Big Green baseball team lost to Loomis Chaffee, 6-5, while the DA softball team fell to Cushing, 9-1.
