Athol Police Log: May 11-12, 2022

Wednesday, May 11

6:51 p.m. – Elizabeth Street caller reported a black Nissan Sentra with a dent in the hood had been idling in front of their fence, and appeared to have made a cash exchange with a male party, then drove away. Officers checked the area but unable to locate vehicle.

7:26 p.m. – Ridge Avenue caller requested assistance with an intoxicated male party that was destroying things in the house. Transported to hospital.

8:13 p.m. – Motor vehicle complaint from Bearsden Road. Caller reported a vehicle had just sped down Bearsden, got up close behind them, then passed them going down the hill. Police attempted to speak with registered owner of the vehicle, but there was no answer at the residence.

8:19 p.m. – South Street business owner informed Police there were unwanted parties at the business. Sent on their way and advised not to loiter.

8:44 p.m. – Riverbend Street caller reported a male party laying in the road, yelling. Transported to hospital.

8:25 p.m. – Call from Main Street about a large male that was in the gas station wearing hospital scrub pants making people feel uncomfortable. Police offer of assistance was declined, and the male was sent on their way.

Thursday, May 12

10:20 a.m. – Lobby walk-in to report their School Street apartment had been broken into.

10:23 a.m. – Multiple callers reported a three-car motor vehicle accident. No personal injuries, no airbags, slight fluids leaking. Two vehicles required to be towed from the scene.

11:26 p.m. – Pleasant Street area caller reported what sounded like gun shots in the woods behind her house. On arrival, three large bears were in her yard and it’s believed someone may have possibly attempted to scare the bears away with some sort of firearm. Unknown of the location. All was well, no injuries to the bears.
