Athol Police Log: Aug. 25-26, 2021

Wednesday, Aug. 25

3:59 p.m. – Main Street traffic stop resulted in the unregistered vehicle being towed and citation to operator/owner.

5:02 p.m. – Lobby walk-in requested assistance with on going threats/harassment by another tenant at Main Street area residence.

5:16 p.m. – Sanders Street area caller reported a scam for Spectrum. She received a text message to pay her bill now and get 50% off the next 6 months of bills. Reporting party called the number, and it was a place in California (and they were requesting information). Reporting party also called Spectrum, and they told her that this was false. She just wanted let the APD to know.

6:40 p.m. – Lobby walk-in reported that white male was sitting by Hometown Bank throwing his empty “nip” bottles on the sidewalk.

7:55 p.m. – Lobby walk-in requested officer accompany him to Riverbend Street to retrieve some of his personal items. Male party gathered belongings, and stated that the items left behind weren’t needed and the female could get rid of them.

9:03 p.m. – Doe Valley Road caller reported a male party sitting on the bridge. A description was provided. No vehicle with the male party, who also had no light. Officer confirmed juvenile had left friend’s house to go for a walk. He stated he had no issues and just wanted to get fresh air and use his phone. Party was sent on his way.

9:18 p.m. – Ridge Avenue caller reported her recently separated husband was with another Ridge Avenue area resident and both are intoxicated, yelling at her from two houses down. Reporting party stated he had also removed his firearms from their house and brought them with him to the other Ridge Avenue location. All was quiet upon officer arrival. Spoke to the male and female who are in the process of a divorce. A verbal argument had occurred. Male would be staying with his neighbor for the night.

10:24 p.m. – Main Street motor vehicle stop for failure to stop for stop sign.

Thursday, Aug. 26

11:04 a.m. – Silver Lake Street area caller reported an unsecured building door. Building checked and Building Inspector notified.

1:03 p.m. – Chestnut Hill Avenue caller reported a SCAM call she had received which she stated was an attempt to defraud her. A female claiming to be her daughter stated she skipped school, and is in custody. Reporting party confirmed the child is in school.

1:20 p.m. – Elizabeth Street caller reported someone high on heroin was causing a disturbance. Officer found subject to be coherent, and sent them and on their way with their sister and a friend.

1:22 p.m. – Pleasant Street caller reported a fire in the residence they believed to be extinguished. Advised to leave the premises, and AFD later confirmed fire was due to something left on the stove. AFD extinguished and premises ventilated.

2:08 p.m. – South Athol Road caller reported a tree crew on a dangerous corner south of Partridgeville without a traffic detail Officer. Police Chief spoke with tree crew. They stated that they had tried to achieve a detail, and it could not be filled. Chief stated they had 45 minutes left and they would be clear.

2:15 p.m. – Orange Police requested APD assistance with transport of a combative patient to the hospital Emergency Room.

4:06 p.m. – Off duty officer called to advise that there is a male party that is video taping the cars coming in and out of the parking lot at the station. Party is a white male wearing a white shirt, tan pants and a blk. baseball hat. At 4:15 p.m. party was in the station video taping the comings and goings of people in the station. Male party was audio and video recording parties in the lobby as well as PD staff. He had a portable radio that was scanning Athol’s frequency, and refused to identify himself. Necessary action taken.

4:15 p.m. – Lobby walk-in requested to speak with a female officer about harassment from neighbor.

4:35 p.m. – Patrol Officer in Exchange Street area took a report of assault. Officer was able to view video footage of incident.

4:45 p.m. – Lobby walk-in requested assistance with neighbor harassing them and calling them racial slurs. Advised of HARPO (Harassment Prevention Order) option through the courts.

5:08 p.m. – Exchange Street caller reported that they had observed what they believed to be a drug deal in the Hometown Bank parking lot. Descriptions of the involved parties and their vehicle(s) was given. Gone on arrival.
