The Athol-Orange Avalanche Cadet dek hockey squad claimed a championship, beating​​ the​​​​​ Leominster Mavericks, 3-1, at the New England Classic in Leominster on Sunday.

The Avalanche came out of the losers’ bracket to win the B-Division championship.

Tyler Goodwin, Joey Conway and Caleb Cox found the net against Leominster.

Kenyon DeHays and Evan Dubrule shared time in net during the tournament, with Dubrule in between the pipes for Sunday’s clincher.

After starting 1-2, the Avalanche stormed back to win three straight to claim the crown.  

The Athol-Orange Avalanche Penguin squad went 0-3 at the tournament.

The Avalanche lost to the Mustangs, 8-0, on June 13 and then lost to No Country Elite, 4-1, on June 14.

The Penguins’ tournament ended with an 10-1 loss on June 15 to the Spindle City Warriors.

The Athol-Orange Avalanche Beaver squad lost, 6-1, to the Winchendon Mustangs on June 13.

The Fitchburg Raiders beat the Beaver team the following day, 6-1.

The Avalanche then fell in the playoffs to the Bulldogs, 8-1, on June 15.
