Orange Police Log: June 20

Thursday, June 20

8:21 a.m. — Caller reporting male/female disturbance, lots of yelling in the area of the Pop Warner field on East River Street across from Leisure Woods; they also have a dog with them. Verbal only; both parties spoken to.

9:33 a.m. — Report of loose dog, Cheney Street. Animal Control notified.

9:44 a.m. — Caller reporting tree took wires down, phone is out, unknown about power, Holtshire road. Officer found tree on phone line blocking road. Requested highway with a chainsaw. Spectrum Cable was advised and will be heading out.

11:37 a.m. — Disturbance, East River Street. Second caller reports party just ran to her apartment and told her to call the police because there are people fighting in apartment. Party told police subject was there and there was a disturbance; he has since taken off on foot. She said he took her only set of car keys. She was advised the officers were being dispatched and to call back if he returned.

11:52 a.m. — Welfare check requested for individual on East River Street. Neighbor reporting she missed a lunch date; both her vehicles are in the driveway. Officers unable to make contact. Officers searched residence; she was not home.

5:35 p.m. — Hayden Street caller requests officer to keep the peace while an ex removes her belongings. Caller stated it would take a few hours. He was advised an officer will not stand by for that long a period of time. He was advised to call if there are any issues.

5:40 p.m. — Call into station reporting a possible overdose, male subject passed out in a vehicle, Old Hickory Road. Area checked; vehicle had left.

5:47 p.m. — Officers stopped by Hayden Street residence to check up on the ex moving items out of the house. Reporting party said they would be all set.

6:03 p.m. — Caller advises that the vehicle the police are looking for is in the parking lot by the big apartment building, Stone Valley Road. Subject is still in the vehicle, an older gray car. Upon arrival occupants identified. Stated they are homeless and were napping until they noticed subjects staring at them. Advised the owner to make arrangements for a licensed driver to respond and remove  the vehicle. His mother was contacted.

8:12 p.m. — Traffic stop, South Main Street. Warning issued for speeding.

8:37 p.m. — Traffic stop, East River Street. Verbal warning for defective equipment (headlight).

9:33 p.m. — Officer and K9 Orka on foot patrol in the center of town, community policing.

9:49 p.m. — 911 hangup call, Oaklawn Avenue. Officer spoke to party who wanted to remain anonymous and had heard adults and children screaming in a concerning way. Area checked, all was quiet.

9:34 p.m. — Disturbance, West River Street. Caller advises that subject attempted to force their way into the caller’s apartment. A verbal argument ensued. Subject left the scene in a white Honda Civic. Situation mediated, subject returned home with his parents.

9:58 p.m. — Missing person, East River Street. Party in lobby requesting to speak to officer because she hasn’t seen her son since 9:15 p.m. when he was last seen at X-Mart. She has no idea where he may be headed and was unable to provide a cell phone number for him. Officer advising subject was at a location and they are en route back to the Orange Police Station to speak with his parents.

10:59 p.m. — Officer wanted, Stone Valley Road. Caller advises subject is out of control. Caller and husband took away his phone and he is freaking out. Officers spoke with involved parties and were able to mediate the situation.

11:10 p.m. — 911 call, Magoon Road. State 911 advised they got an open line call with what sounded like someone crying. Officer spoke with subject at the residence who had been sleeping and advised no one there called.

11:39 p.m. — Suspicious activity, Pleasant Street. Caller states she hears noises from the vacant downstairs apartment. Officers made contact with subjects who were inside the apartment. Both stated they were never told they couldn’t be there but both agreed to leave.

9:41 p.m. — Animal complaint Carpenter Street caller reports a brown dog with a collar and no tags at address. Contacted Animal Control and requested transport to pound. Caller states a car appears to be broken down outside. Dog with Superman collar transported to Athol pound.

11:54 p.m. — Gibbs Court caller advises her son’s room has been ransacked. Stated it was fine when she left for work this morning. His lock box that had knives in it has been broken into. Report taken.

Friday, June 21

12:12 a.m. — Officer advises car is off the road on South Main Street; owners have AAA en route.

4:19 a.m. — Noise complaint, Sandrah Drive. Caller states four kids hanging around outside, one on a skateboard, one on a scooter and two with backpacks. Subjects were spoke with regarding complaint and advised to head home for the night.
