Saturday, Oct. 19

9 a.m. — Forget Me Not Walk, the 9th annual fundraiser for Alzheimer’s disease, at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, 821 Daniel Shays Hwy., Athol. Free barbecue for all walk participants and their guests. The walk is a 1-2 mile loop. To sign up call Wanda Landry at 978-249-3717 ($10), or show up the day of the walk ($12). Limited number of T-shirts.

9 a.m.-3 p.m. — Massachusetts Freemasons, public open house. Stop in at a local Lodge to find out who the Masons are and what they are about. North Quabbin Lodge, located at 336 Main St., Athol.

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Tree ID Using Barn and Habitat Clues, with naturalist Nancy Goodman. Become familiar with the characteristic bark from different trees in different habitats and at different stages of growth, as well as identification from leaves and other clues. Bring binoculars, water, a trail snack, sturdy walking shoes and the book “Bark” by Michael Wojtech, if you have a copy. This program is co-sponsored with the Athol Bird and Nature Club and will take place at Northfield’s scenic Riverview Picnic area along the Connecticut River. Meet in the Riverview parking area at 10 a.m. (intersection of Pine Meadow and Ferry Road, 100 Ferry Rd., Northfield) Free for ages 16 and older. Pre-register by calling 800-859-2960.

Noon - 1:30 p.m. — Pumpkin decorating: For kids ages 5 and up and their caregivers. Come to the library and dress up a pumpkin with a variety of craft materials. All materials will be provided. Noon-4 p.m. — Petersham Historical Society, 10 North Main St., Petersham, open to the public.

3 p.m. — Athol Cinemas 8, 2nd annual Trunk or Treat event, in the parking lot. Trunk contests: most creative, scariest, funniest, best movie theme. Trick-or Treat is from 5-7 p.m. Participants must distribute only individually wrapped candies. Rain date is Oct. 26.

5:30 p.m. — CANCELED. 5th Annual Oktoberfest at St. Francis Church Hall, 101 Main St., Athol. Info: Jackie Doherty 978-249-3638.

5:45 p.m. — Athol Lions Club’s 21st annual Haunted Hayrides, at Silver Lake Park. Also on Saturday. Non-scary rides are free for young children from 5:45-6:15; regular scary rides begin at 6:30 p.m. Adults $8; children 12 and under $5.Wagons leave from the Lake Park, Peqouig Avenue playground. 6:30 p.m. — Meat raffle, at the Baldwinville American Legion Hall, 3 Central St., Baldwinville to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Church in Baldwinville.

7-10:30 p.m. — Monadnock Tri-State Dance Club dance, Ellen Lambert Murphy Memorial Community Center, 21 DurkeeSt., Winchester, NH. Halloween theme, with live music by Rachel & Western Partners. All are welcome; $8 members, $10 non-members.

7:30 p.m. — “Wait until Dark” presented by the Barre Players; a thriller by Frederick Knott, adapted by Jeffery Hatcher, at the Barre Players Theater, 64 Common St., Barre. Mild adult themes. Sunday, Oct. 20

9:30-3:30 p.m. — Coin show at the Dante Club, 1198 Memorial Ave, Route 147, West Springfield. Free parking.

Monday, Oct. 21

10:30 - 11:30 a.m. — Baby and Me Storytime: For children up to 36 months old. Join us for songs, rhymes, bounces & a board book. Includes 45 minutes of informal playtime. 5:30-7:30 p.m. — Career Awareness Night, at Montachusett Regional Technical School, 1050 Westminster St., Route 2A, at the Fitchburg-Westminster line.

6-8 p.m. — King James Pop-Up Library: The Wheeler Memorial Library will be bringing the library to you! Join us in the King James Court Community Room to see our pop-up library filled with both regular and large print books! Library card applications will be available for anyone who wishes to sign up for a library card. If you’re unable to make it to the community room let us know and we’ll deliver your requested items to you! Contact the Wheeler Memorial Library for more information. 7:30 p.m. — “Event Horizon” is the next in the monthly series of science fiction/fantasy horror/monster movies at the Wendell Free Library. Admission is free.
