GARDNER — The Workers Credit Union will unveil a memorial at the site of the former Ohave Shalom synagogue, located at 192 Pleasant St., on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 3:30 p.m.

In 2017, the synagogue was purchased by the Credit Union and demolished. The site now features several shade trees planted earlier this year and memorial dedicated to the Jewish community.

Workers Credit Union and its Board of Directors will unveil the memorial on Wednesday, and invites community members to join the ceremony. Light refreshments will be offered following the ceremony.

“Community is one of the most important elements of the Workers Way” said Sandra Sagehorn Elliott, Workers Credit Union Chief Operating Officer. “We truly hope that this memorial will stand to remember our community history and the people who have made Gardner what it is today. We especially thank all of the community members who have reached out to share their stories of Ohave Shalom and its importance in their lives.”
