PETERSHAM — Petersham Art Center invites the public to an artist reception on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 4-6 p.m. for the exhibition “Candace Anderson: Watercolors.” All are welcome to meet the artist; and enjoy fine art and refreshments.
Anderson, of Petersham, has earned Signature Membership with the New England Watercolor Society and exhibits her paintings at the Society’s gallery on Newbury Street in Boston. Anderson has taught art at Oakmont Regional High School and in the Pioneer Valley Schools. In 2000 she was named Massachusetts’ Distinguished Art Educator of the Year.
Anderson was the Artist and Director of a grant-funded program that provided art workshops and education in support of cancer care at a dozen hospitals in New England. She served for ten years as Artist-in-Residence at The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden in Harvard, Massachusetts, where she created and facilitated art programs for people with cancer. Anderson’s watercolors are permanently installed at hospitals throughout New England, and in private collections.
The Petersham Art Center has been showcasing fine art and craft of the region since 1912. The Center is located at 8 North St. just off Rte 32/North Main Street, a short distance from Petersham Common. The exhibition ‘Candace Anderson: Watercolors’ runs from Sept. 8 to Oct. 17.
