Orange Police Log: Aug. 20

Tuesday, Aug. 20

12:07 a.m. — Motor vehicle accident, New Athol Road. 911 caller from the car wash reports a tractor trailer unit took a 1x12-foot section of the roof on the overhang off and went toward Athol on Route 2A. Fire department notified due to apparent damage to the building. State police advised to be on the look out (BOLO). Party has a video of the accident. Fire department advises the damage was cosmetic in nature. TT unit struck Workers Credit Union building removing exterior trim. Operator said he was unaware he hit the building. Report taken.

8:21 a.m. — Motor vehicle accident, New Athol Road. Party reporting TT unit making a delivery there, the driver stated he struck the Worker’s Credit Union building. It was also reported there is a piece of wood from the building stuck in the side of the trailer. This was the accident investigated by the previous shift. Pete’s Tire Barn just wanted to make sure it was reported before they removed the wood from the trailer.

9:11 a.m. — Report of male yelling at traffic, East River Street. Found party having a heated conversation on his cell phone.

9:29 a.m. — Officer wanted, East River Street. Party would like a call about getting her daughter from her father. Spoke with party who said daughter was staying with father this summer and she now wants her to come home. Child’s father explained there was an agreement he would keep the child until school starts, and this is his intention. Both advised of court options.

10:56 a.m. — Warrant served, East Main Street. Arrested Daniel James Troiano, 31, of East Main St., Orange, on a warrant.

11:21 a.m. — Traffic stop on East Main Street for revoked insurance. Citation issued, plates seized, vehicle towed.

2:59 p.m. — Caller advises there are a couple tenants fighting and she overheard a male party yelling that he was going to smash someone’s laptop, East Main Street. Officer found a verbal argument over unlocking a cellphone. Situation mediated.

3:09 p.m. — Fire alarm, East Main Street. Command advises it was a faulty detector.

4:37 p.m. — Larceny, East River Street. Caller reporting a tall skinny male took their BMX from the back, and can see him riding toward the airport. Officer located subject and bike; transported bike back to PineCrest and has one under arrest. Branden Michael Choquette, 20, of Eagleville Road, Orange was arrested on charge of larceny under $1,200.

7:49 p.m. — Caller advises subject has been staying at the house she rents, East Main Street, and would like to know what her options are, stating she would like subject to leave. Officers advised both parties of their options through the court process as male claims East Main Street to be his residence and has been living there for about six months.9:05 p.m. — 911 hang up call, Hamilton Avenue and Terrace Street. Party states she did the three button thing hoping her phone would only make noise. Caller is unsure where she is other than at a friend’s house. Upon arrival, officer made contact with party who stated everything is fine; no signs of emergency. She explained that she saw something on Facebook that tricks users into making an emergency call on their phones.
