Orange Police: Jan. 8-9

Tuesday, Jan. 8

12:49 a.m. — Vehicle stopped for marked lanes violation, North Main Street at Oxbow Road. Verbal warning issued.

1:46 a.m. — Vehicle stopped for speeding, Daniel Shays Highway. Verbal warning.

1:53 a.m. — Vehicle stopped for speeding, Est River Street. Verbal warning.

8:33 a.m. — Welfare check, Prentiss Street. CAller advises neighbor has been spending a lot of time in his vehicle since Sunday. Party stated his furnace is broken and is sitting in his car to warm up.

8:54 a.m. — Walnut Hill Road caller advises he woke to find three of four prescriptions missing. The house was checked and no sign of forced entry and no fresh footprints in the snow leading to the house. Medications noted and put on record. Male advised to contact his pharmacy.

9:58 a.m. — Vehicle stopped for speeding, South main Street. Verbal warning.

10:35 a.m. — Vehicle stopped on New Athol Road for displaying an expired inspection sticker. Verbal warning.10:49 a.m. — Officer advises he is off with a road rage-type incident involving two motorists, Center of town. While in the Square officer observed two operators blowing their horns and exchange angry gestures at each other. Spoke with operators and found this was from encounter they had while driving on West River Street. Warning issued to operator of sedan.

11:19 a.m. — Report of suspicious vehicle parked in area of Linden Street. Dark gray Honda with Rhode Island plates.

12:21 p.m. — Vehicle stopped for displaying expired plates, Holtshire Road. Found to be active.

1:18 p.m. — Larceny reported, East River Street. Party to the station to report she had been scammed by a publishing company. She had given them $4,000 to publish her children’s book and since then has not received any confirmation and the number she has for the company is disconnected. She has been in contact with the Better Business Bureau.

2:12 p.m. — Vehicle stopped for displaying expired inspection sticker, Hayden Street. Verbal warning.

5 p.m. — Motor vehicle lockout, East Main Street. Entry gained.

5:12 p.m. — East River Street caller reporting 17-year-old son as a runaway. Same advised he is refusing to come home or answer his cellphone for parents. Approximately 30 minutes prior to the mother placing the call he had just left his girlfriend’s house. Mad because someone contacted his mother to advise her he was safe.Last seen walking toward Mahar. Party would like officers to verify he is safe and would be satisfied with him going to a family member/girlfriend’s house to stay. Found party is with older brother and will be staying in Athol tonight.

Wednesday, Jan. 9

12:09 a.m.  — Vehicle stopped for failed inspection sticker, West Orange Road. Verbal warning.

1:53 a.m. — Caller advises that the road is glare ice and her tow truck can’t get to the vehicle that is off the road down an embankment, Fryeville Road and Tully Road. Highway superintendent advised.

7:19 a.m. — Oxbow Road caller reporting road is icy. Hwy Super advised.

8:16 a.m. — Medical emergency, Terrace Street.

11:03 a.m. — Fire alarm sounding, Main street. On scene, two story wood frame, nothing showing. Command reports faulty detector on second floor. Clear, returning.

1:06 p.m. — Traffic hazard. Caller reporting small silver car is using Congress Street and Pleasant Street intersection to teach kids driving techniques.. Caller feels it is dangerous as you come down Congress over the hill and don’t have a lot of time to stop.

2:09 a.m. — Caller reports vehicle all over road, East Main Street, excessive speeds since the center of Erving, heading toward Orange. Area checked, negative contact.

3:32 p.m. — Two straight warrants served. Jessica A. Hughes, 27, of West River St., Orange, was arrested on Daniel Shays Highway, booked at Orange Police Department and transported to the House of Corrections.

8:05 p.m. — Vehicle stopped for expired inspection sticker, South Main Street. Verbal warning issued.

K8:20 p.m. — Vehicle stopped for failure to inspect, East River Street. Verbal warning.

9:02 p.m. — Winchester New Hampshire Police Department requesting a call regarding serving criminal trespass paperwork to subject at Mattawa Circle. Negative contact.

11:39 p.m. — East Main Street caller reporting she was bit by the downstairs neighbor’s dog. Party had visible wound on her left thigh area and the skin was broken. Animal Control advised of the bite and will be in contact with her. Party refused any medical treatment.
