ATHOL – Lords, ladies and servants, your presence is requested at the Athol Town Hall for a casting call for the Main Street Stage Company’s Formal Dinner Event: Downton Athol, to be presented the second November, 2019 at 7 p.m. in Memorial Hall.

The Main Street Stage Company (MsSC) is being revived after a 7-year hiatus. M.E. Kane, Artistic Director for MsSC, said “Downton Athol” is the company’s signature event for its revival, and proof of concept event “for our future work in our community to promote downtown revitalization.” Kane said she’s hoping for a regional draw.

The casting call offers “the chance to experience the grandeur of the Gilded Age up to the Roaring Twenties.” The event is a take on the wildly popular Masterpiece Theater historical drama television series “Downton Abbey,” about the Crawley family and their servants in Highclere Castle in England. Kane said she is “very focused” on making this event special. Actors are needed to portray characters from the show, no experience necessary.

Kane, an Athol resident who has a background in residential, commercial and industrial applications where she “creates atmospheres and builds environments,” hopes eventually to have a space downtown for a production studio that follows the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts and Math) model from community enrichment and educational standpoints. She stresses that MsSC is “not just a theater company,” and will eventually offer work opportunities for people through entertainment and production, including artists, performers, craftsmen and tradesmen. The production studio will be about building, designing, producing and performing, she said.

The MsSC is building the framework for its staff and additionally there is an opening for one member on the Board of Directors.

The Casting Call dates and times are: Thursday, Sept. 12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Athol Town Hall, 584 Main St.
