ATHOL — The North Quabbin Chamber & Visitors Bureau, Athol Fire Department and Athol and Orange Lions Clubs are pleased to present the lineup for this year’s River Rat Promenade. The parade includes seven divisions, 106 vehicles and over 750 marchers.

This year’s Grand Marshall is Mitch Grosky of Athol. Grosky has served as a teacher and principal for 40 years, the last 20 of those in Athol. He currently serves on the ARRSD school committee and is a former Athol Selectman. He has also been a member of the Athol Lions, Rotary, YMCA, AARP, AOTV and numerous other committees and organizations. He is also the owner of Mitchell R. Grosky Photogaphy and is a tireless promoter of the North Quabbin region. Grosky lives in Athol with his wife Anne.

The weather forecast for Saturday is mostly sunny, mild and 70 degrees so whether you’re marching or viewing, it should be a beautiful day. The promenade will begin right after the Big Cheese 5k at 9:30AM on School Street and turn left onto Main and finish at the Lord Pond Plaza near the carnival. Organizers and participants are looking forward to a big turnout and kicking off the weekend’s River Rat Race celebrations.

Members of the Athol Fire Department will be on hand again this year along the parade lineup area to guide everyone into position. Late entries are welcome and should proceed to the Riverbend School for placement on Saturday. Participants are asked to arrive at their division locations starting at 8:15AM. School Street will be closed at 8:00AM to regular traffic. Marchers may be dropped off at the CCD center or on the Congress Street side of Riverbend School.
