ATHOL – Downtown merchants, property owners and the general public are invited to attend a public forum to discuss short- and longer-term visions for reinvesting in the downtown district.

The discussion will be held in the historic Carnegie portion of the Athol Public Library on Tuesday, May 14 from 6:30 until 8 p.m. and will cap preliminary work by town of Athol staff and input from the Downtown Vitality Committee.

The open forum will include a brief overview of ongoing downtown initiatives and concept illustrations of proposed areas of future improvement. Leaders from the Department of Planning and Development and Department of Public Works will help facilitate discussion along with planning consultant BSC Group.

The session is being convened by Town Manager Shaun A. Suhoski as part of an economic development planning initiative funded in part by a grant from the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development.

The illustrative concepts can be viewed online at www.athol-ma.gov.
