ATHOL — Adams Animal Hospital has achieved the highest level of veterinary excellence following a thorough evaluation by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Adams Animal Hospital, located at 1287 South Main St., earned AAHA accreditation after a rigorous review of the hospital’s practice protocols, medical equipment, facility, and client service.

Unlike human hospitals, not all animal hospitals are required to be accredited. Accredited hospitals are the only hospitals that choose to be evaluated on approximately 900 quality standards that go above and beyond basic state regulations, ranging from patient care and pain management to staff training and advanced diagnostic services.

AAHA- accredited hospitals are recognized among the finest in the industry, and are consistently at the forefront of advanced veterinary medicine. AAHA standards are continuously reviewed and updated to keep accredited practices on the cutting edge of veterinary excellence.

Pet owners look for AAHA-accredited hospitals because they value their pet’s health and trust the consistent, expert care provided by the entire healthcare team. At AAHA-accredited practices, pet owners can expect to receive the highest quality care from well-trained, professional veterinary teams.

Only the top 12% of small animal hospitals in the U.S. and Canada have achieved AAHA accreditation. To maintain accredited status, Adams Animal Hospital must continue to be evaluated regularly by AAHA.

Adams Animal Hospital, established in 1947, is a full service AAHA accredited veterinary hospital practicing high quality preventative, medical, surgical and dental care.

Adams Animal Hospital has been a Cat Friendly Practice since 2012, and is working toward Fear Free Practice Certification with several key staff members already Fear Free Certified Professionals.

In recent years Adams Animal Hospital has added services valued by their clientele such as house calls, urgent care, dental radiographs and most recently, acupuncture.

Adams will also be expanding their summer hours. Beginning in July, the hospital will be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Adams offers several cost savings preventive care promotions some of which are, a Free First Exam Coupon, Free Vaccines For Life Program, Puppy/Kitten First Year of Life Plans, as well as Adult and Senior Wellness Packages.

Adams Animal Hospital is committed to their community. Annual sponsorships include the Athol Lion’s Club River Rat Race, Orange Summer Solstice Festival, A-O Rotary Summerfest, local Little Leagues and After Prom Parties. In addition, the hospital has raised funds for multiple causes which include playground equipment for the North Quabbin Dog Park, and donating to organizations such as Canines For Disabled Kids and Northeast Houndsmen. The hospital also gives back to the community by sponsoring pet insurance for local police dogs “Gronk” in Athol and “Orka” in Orange, fundraising to supply annual holiday baskets for local families with pets in need, and partnering with NQRAC to provide spay/neuter clinics and low-cost services for shelter pets. When they’re not busy with all of that, the staff can also be found dressed in mascot costumes and participating in kids activities including the Athol Halloween Preschool Strolls, Build-A-Pet and local parades.
