APD among finalists in K-9 SUV giveaway

ATHOL — The Athol Police Department has been named one of 30 finalists in the Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.-K9 Law Enforcement Sports Utility Vehicle Giveaway.

Athol Officer Craig Deveneau and K-9 Gronk are competing for public votes to win a new Chevy Tahoe SUV with Police Pursuit Package and additional K-9 unit customizations — a prize worth up to $50,000.

The public is invited to vote once per day on the charity’s contest page. Public voting runs until 11:59:59 p.m. on Oct. 31. The K-9 team with the most votes by the end of the contest wins the new Chevy Tahoe SUV.

To cast votes and view official rules visit www.vik9s.org/suvgiveaway. The winner will be announced on the Vested Interest in K9s website and social media sites.

Vested Interest in K9s Inc. is a nonprofit located in East Taunton. Its mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States.

The nonprofit was established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies with this potentially lifesaving body armor and other services for their four-legged K-9 officers. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s Inc. has provided more than 3,100 protective vests, in 50 states, through private and corporate donations, at a value of $5.7 million.
