Athol Police log Oct. 6-8, 2020

Tuesday, Oct. 6

1:15 a.m. — Caller stating a verbal altercation occurring in the hallway, Pleasant Street. Argument between tenants over money owed. Male parties agreed to quiet down for the night.

9:11 a.m. — Officers attempting to serve a probation warrant, West Royalston Road. John Franklin Pierce, 43, of Athol, was arrested on charges of a probation warrant.

11:27 a.m. — 911 caller reporting two armed men in her vehicle that are pointing guns at her and taunting her, Doe Valley Road. Residence and property searched with no evidence of what was being reported. Female party was transported to Athol Hospital for evaluation.

3:11 p.m. — Party found a needle on the side of the road, Petersham Road. Item retrieved and disposed of.

4:06 p.m. — 911 caller reporting minor motor vehicle accident, Ridge Avenue.

4:53 p.m. — 911 caller stating a water pipe burst in his basement and it is filling with water, Newton Street. All parties are out of the house. Water Department contacted and shut the water off.

6:25 p.m. — Party in lobby requesting to speak with an officer regarding having custody over her granddaughter and her mother has that juvenile, School Street. Party to file a missing person report. While speaking with officer, granddaughter called asking to be picked up.

Wednesday, Oct. 7

10:38 a.m. — Caller would like to speak to an officer about being assaulted and a separate road rage incident that recently took place, Chestnut Hill Avenue. Spoke to reporting party, he states he was assaulted, and later on in a separate incident had a knife pulled on him. He would not provide any other information because he didn’t want to incriminate himself. Same just wanted the statement on record.

11:32 a.m. — Caller reporting that she was threatened by a customer, Brookside Road. Spoke with both parties, verbal only.

1:40 p.m. — 911 caller requesting an ambulance for a female party having chest pain, Hampstead Place. AFD is requesting an officer to the scene. Took verbal statements from both parties. Transported to hospital.

2:44 p.m. — Female party in the lobby looking to speak with an officer regarding her personal information being tampered with, Pleasant Street. Spoke to reporting party, she has already spoken to the credit bureaus and frozen her credit. She received a change of address form from the post office, followed up with them and made them delete the change of address. The COA was to a house in Fresno, CA, and reached out to the Post Master of Fresno to have them stop any mail of hers going to that address. Reporting party was provided with a fraud packet just in case anything else came up.

4:26 p.m. — Caller reporting she cannot move her car out of the parking spot due to there being a tree stump behind it, Walnut Street. Moved stump.

5:04 p.m. — 911 caller reporting tree and pole down, Partridgeville Road and Daniel Shays Highway. National Grid contacted.

5:05 p.m. — Multiple 911 calls for trees on wires across the road that are sparking, West Royalston Road. Assisted FD. National Grid on scene.

5:09 p.. — 911 call for trees across the road, Pleasant Street and New Sherborn Road. DPW on scene.

5:09 p.m. — 911 call for a tree down with wires, White Pond Road. National Grid on scene.

5:11 p.m. — 911 call for a branch on wire sparking, Silver Lake Street. Officer checked the area, no branch on wire, no sparking.

5:18 p.m. — 911 call for tree down on wires, South Athol Road. National Grid contacted.

5:22 p.m. — Tree down, South Athol Road and Riverview Avenue. One lane road, DPW notified.

5:24 p.m. — 911 call for multiple trees across the road, Riceville Road. No wires down, DPW notified.

5:30 p.m. — Tree across the road, New Sherborn Road. DPW notified.

5:30 p.m. — Tree/wire down, Carpenter Road. National Grid contacted.

5:31 p.m. — Trees across the road, Pleasant Street and Doe Valley Road. Officer handled.

5:34 p.m. — Per Engine 1, tree down across the road, White Pond Road. DPW notified.

5:34 p.m. — 911 caller reporting he smells something burning in the area, Bigelow Road.

5:44 p.m. — Caller reporting tree on house, Dewey Street. No wires or fire. DPW notified.

5:46 p.m. — Tree/wire down, New Sherborn and Conant roads. National Grid contacted.

5:48 p.m. — Report of a motor vehicle accident, New Sherborn Road. Owner of vehicle approached officer on a separate call. States he was driving on New Sherborn Road towards Petersham and a tree fell and landed on his vehicle. No injuries to anyone in the vehicle. Damage to the vehicle is the front passenger side hood area.

5:55 p.m. — 911 caller reporting a hole in the middle of the road from where a tree ripped up, Old Keene Road.

6:07 p.m. — Wires down, New Sherborn Road. Not in road. National Grid contacted.

6:09 p.m. — 911 caller reporting a tree fell on horse, Riceville Road. ACO advised and en route.

6:11 p.m. — 911 call for tree on wire sparking, New Sherborn and Conant roads. Per Engine 3, no fire or sparking.

6:21 p.m. — Caller reporting wires down, New Sherborn Road. Utility 1 on scene, reporting 7 poles down. National Grid contacted.

6:31 p.m. — Caller reporting tree across the road, Hillside Terrace. Pole has a branch on the wires. National Grid notified.

6:35 p.m. — Caller reporting tree/wire down, Bearsden Road. Officer checking the area, unable to locate any trees or wires down.

6:36 p.m. — Caller reporting tree on wires, Ward Street. Per officer, everything is clear.

6:44 p.m. — 911 call for tree and wires down, Conant and Riceville roads. National Grid contacted.

7:15 p.m. — Anonymous caller reporting parties yelling and throwing items in the road, Highland and Grove streets. Verbal argument between mother and teenage son. Quiet on arrival. Officer spoke with both parties.

8:23 p.m. — Caller reporting a vehicle pulled up to her house and it looked like they took something off her porch, Beacon Street. Female party states a vehicle pulled into her driveway, a male party approached her porch and she believes he took something off of the porch. States she wants PD to be aware in case it occurs again.

Thursday, Oct. 8

12:52 a.m. — Officer attempted to stop a motor vehicle for speeding and the vehicle was failing to stop, Main and School streets. Officer followed the vehicle to Athol Hospital where the officers found that the passenger was having a heart episode. Officers assisted with the wheelchair and got party inside the ER.

1:46 a.m. — Caller stating her son has locked himself in a vehicle in the driveway, past curfew on permit and possible drug activity, Ward Street. Male party was sitting in the passenger seat of his vehicle. No drugs located. Nothing physical, just verbal. Male party went inside and keys were turned over to the mother.

4:52 p.m. — 911 caller reporting a female party that has fallen and has gotten up and is now going in circles, South Main Street. Transported to hospital.

5:08 p.m. — 911 call for a 33-year-old female party that believes she is detoxing and has a UTI, Hampstead Place. Transported to hospital.

6:51 p.m. — Caller reporting her ex-husband has gone missing from Washington State on Sunday and now she is hearing he is on his way to Massachusetts and making threats, Pequoig Avenue.
