ATHOL — The Athol Council on Aging will be offering the Senior Farm Share program made possible through CISA, the community involved in sustaining agriculture organization and North Quabbin Harvest. Fresh, local vegetables will be distributed weekly for a period of 10 weeks to eligible seniors who reside in Athol. To qualify for the program you must be 60 years of age or older and receive SNAP benefits or fuel assistance. If you receive neither of the benefits, your annual household income must be below $27,180 for a family of one or an annual income below $36,620 for two or more family households. For more information and an application to participate in the program, contact the Council on Aging office at 978-249-8986. There are limited amount of shares and the deadline is June 1 to apply. Qualified applicants will be chosen by lottery.
