Sunday, Jan. 16 10:32 p.m. – OPD officers, including K9 Orka, responded to request by Athol Police Department for assistance with a drug sniff of a vehicle. Occupants were found to be in possession of illegal drugs and were taken into custody.
Monday, Jan. 17 8:17 a.m. – Control advised Orange Police Department of a report of an out-of-control teen at Fairman Road. Officers spoke to all involved parties. No criminal matter.
3:19 p.m. – Daniel Shays Highway caller reported that an individual (believed to be a guest at the Inn) was out in the parking lot playing loud music and yelling. Subject advised of the complaint and turned the music down.
4:03 p.m. – Single-vehicle collision with a tree at Athol Road, then vehicle slid into someone’s yard. Minor damage to the vehicle and there were no injuries.
11:12 p.m. – A concerned citizen driving on Tully Road toward Butterworth Road came upon a vehicle in the middle of the road facing in the opposite direction. Reporting party requested Police and EMS assistance when the occupant, who sounded like they were snoring, appeared unresponsive when they and another bystander tried to awaken the individual. A jug of “something” was observed in the vehicle near the operator, who had finally woken up, and told them help was not needed and drove off. Police detained the operator on Tully Road heading toward Athol where the operator was taken into custody. The vehicle was towed and a courtesy transport from the station for the vehicle operator was provided by Orange Police Department.
Tuesday, Jan. 18 12:43 p.m. – Athol Road caller reported that it appeared someone went off the road and into their yard. Tire tracks and downed trees were observed. Reporting party believes it may have happened between midnight and 7 a.m. the previous night.
4:19 p.m. – East River Street caller reported their vehicle had been stolen sometime within the last 24 to 48 hours. The vehicle had been parked in the Visitor Parking (while visiting/assisting his mother) on the side of the main office. Vehicle information was entered into NCIC as stolen.
Wednesday, Jan. 19 12:10 p.m. – Caller from Holtshire Road area reported that her parents had been scammed out of $16,000 through multiple different stores in California. Reporting party confirmed that all accounts had been closed and police advised them to also fill out a statement with the bank.
1:34 p.m. – East Main Street caller reported missing items from their basement after being advised by the landlord to contact police. Follow up with list of missing items to follow.
2:27 p.m. – East River Street caller reported repeated, annoying phone calls from the same person regarding hand delivering new Medicare cards to their door. Police advised them to block phone calls and not to give out any personal information.
7:16 p.m – Patrol officer reported an erratic driver on East Road heading toward Wheeler Avenue. Police eventually stopped the vehicle operator, who was cited for marked lanes violation and speeding.
9:35 p.m. – Orange Police Officer and K9 Orka assisted Athol Police Department on vehicle drug sniff at South Main Street in Athol. Drugs were located in the vehicle and the operator will be facing charges.
