Gloria G. Shackett  (Obituary)

ATHOL — Gloria (Soucie) Shackett, 81, of Cottage Street in Athol passed away Sunday, December 9th.

She had a long battle with Parkinson's and related issues.

Gloria was a graduate of Athol High School Class of 1955 and a lifelong resident of the town.

Gloria worked for several years as a baker at Hamilton Orchards and is known for her pies. She also worked in the Riverbend and Junior High cafeterias.

For 4 years she helped coordinate the Athol Congregational Church Ham and Baked Bean Suppers. Her coleslaw is still remembered!

Gloria was a very imaginative and creative woman. She was an avid gardener known by the neighbors for her perennial flowerbeds. She loved baking, crafts, and ceramics. She also loved animals, especially her birds and cats. She will be missed.

Predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Kenneth Shackett, Gloria is survived by her son Keith Shackett and his partner Troy, her son Kyle Shackett and his wife Pernille, and her grandchildren Miranda Holberg and FenrisShackett

Her sisters Shirley Jacquez (Laurel, MD) and Sheila Smith and her husband Steve Smith of Athol.

Her niece, Carol Zack (Atlanta ,GA) and nephew, Allen Jacquez (Ellicott City, MD).

There will be a Celebration of Life on Tuesday December 18th 3:30 pm at the Athol Congregation Church followed by food and refreshments.
