FITCHBURG — The Monty Tech Drama Club will present a monstrously funny new musical comedy “Young Frankenstein” on April 5 & 6 at 7 p.m. and April 7 at 2 p.m. in the Montachusett Regional Technical School,

Under the direction of Bethany Johnson with musical direction by Debbie Moylan, featuring a cast of talented student actors, including TAMY award winning John Sweeney who portrays Fredrick and the incredibly talented Cameron DeVillers as Frau Blucher, the show will take the audience on a journey they won’t soon forget!

Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced “Fronk-en-steen”) inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced “Eye-gore”), a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), and iconic house keeper Frau Blucher, Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. “It’s alive!” he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather’s. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds.

Every bit as relevant to audience members who will remember the original as it will be to newcomers, Young Frankenstein has all the panache of the screen sensation with a little extra theatrical flair added. With such memorable tunes as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” Young Frankenstein is scientifically proven good entertainment.

Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the door.

NOTE: This show is rated pg-13 for content and adult themes.
