9:30 a.m. — Story Walk® sponsored by Valuing Our Children, Millers River Park (rear of the Athol Public Library, for people of all ages to read. In inclement weather, the walk is set up in the library. A craft goes along with the story walk is set up for children in the library. No registration required.

10-11 a.m. — Playgroup, in the Children’s Library at Athol Public Library, for caregivers and children. No registration required.

10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. — Rise and Romp Storytime: For children ages 2 to 5 years old. Read stories, sing songs, learn rhymes, dance, and make an easy craft at the Wheeler Memorial Library, 49 East Main St., Orange. Older and younger siblings welcome. Info: 978-544-2495.

Wednesday, June 12

3-5 p.m. — Knit-Wits. Drop-in meeting with Jean White at the Athol Public Library. For those interested in knitting, crocheting ,needlework and other fun projects. Materials provided or bring your own. Info: 978-249-9515.

4 p.m. to dusk — The North Quabbin Cruisers' Wednesday Cruise Night will host Public Safety Appreciation at Market Basket, Route 2A, Athol. The Cruisers will be recognizing all Public Safety personnel: Police, Fire, EMT, Dispatchers, and K-9 units demonstration. Weather permitting. Free. Bring the whole family to show your gratitude and see the emergency vehicles up close.

6:30-8 p.m. — Talk on “Deep Community in a Small Mountain Village in El Salvadore, with Diane Nassif of Petersham. Nassif will present photos and details of her journey to the village with a delegation of Boston-area Unitarian Universalists and congregants from the Kansas City Christian Church. Free and open to the public, registration required by calling 978-249-9515. Supported by the Friends of the Athol Public Library.

Thursday, June 13

3:30-5 p.m. — Chess Club, in the TeenSpace at Athol Public Library, with David Price. For students in grades 4-10. Learn the game or brush up on your skills. To sign up or for more information call 978-249-9515.

4 p.m. (until finished) — Plant a Butterfly Garden, at the Athol Public Library, which is an officially registered Monarch Waystation. Help plant a new garden this year to attract more monarchs. Plants and tools provided. Info: 978-249-9515.

5:30-6:30 p.m. — Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) weekly meeting at Athol Hospital, 2033 Main St., Athol.

9 a.m.-noon — Father’s Day bake sale, Orange United Methodist Church, 104 South Main St., Orange. (Sale will be held inside the church in the event of rain).
