ATHOL — Wildlife photographer Dale Monette will present a slide show and sign copies of his new book, “Voyagers, Visitors, and Home,” beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in Athol Historical Society, 1307 Main St.
Haley’s published “Voyagers, Visitors, and Home” as well as Monette’s first collection of photographs, “Secret Lives of the Quabbin Watershed.”
Since retiring after 10 years as program coordinator with the Quabbin Visitors Center and previous affiliation with the natural resources division of the state Division of Conservation and Recreation, Monette has spent countless hours photographing wild animals in their natural habitat.
Soon, Monette’s new television show with naturalist David Small, D and D’s North Quabbin Nature Journal, will air on Athol-Orange Community Television. Monette contributes photographs to “Uniquely Quabbin” magazine.
Voyagers, Visitors, and Home includes a section about the eagle reintroduction project in the Quabbin reservation as well as photos of snowy owls, egrets, herons, beavers, mink, deer, moose, bears, insects, small mammals, and more, some from the Quabbin reservation and some from beyond.
In the slide show, Monette will include images from the book, printed by Highland Press of Athol.
Voyagers, Visitors, and Home will be on sale at Haley’s in Athol, New Salem General Store, Petersham General Store, Quabbin Visitors Center in Belchertown, Red Apple Farm in Phillipston, Toadstool Book Stores in Peterborough, Milford, and Keene, New Hampshire; TrailHead Outdoor Fitters in Orange, and Wendell Country Store.
