Mahar girls spike Mohawk in 5 sets
ORANGE — The Mahar volleyball team squeaked out a five-set victory over Mohawk, Thursday, 25-14, 22-25, 25-23, 16-25, 15-10.
While the Senators were inconsistent at the net — they committed 23 hitting errors — they did enough to earn the win. Maeve Powell led the attack with six kills. Natalie Gonynor added five spikes while Ashley Ehlen had four. Aria Flematti, Sophie Smith, Carissa Johnson and Jordyn Berry all had one kill in the win.
Flematti handed out 13 assists for the Senators. Ehlen and Johnson had one assists apiece.
Gonynor was a force at the service line as the senior racked up six aces. Flematti and Johnson had two aces each. Smith and Powell chipped in one ace apiece.
Smith led the defensive effort with six digs. Lauren Henne and Flematti added five apiece. Johnson and Gonynor chipped in two digs each.
The win was the third of the season for the Senators who wrap up their season tonight when Pioneer visits.
