ERVING — Ruth S. (Radloff) Crosby of Mountain Rd., Erving, died on Dec. 17, 2015, at the age of 96. She was the wife of Robert B. Crosby who died in April 2013. They enjoyed over 66 years of marriage.

As a young woman, “Ruthie” supported the war effort by working in the engineering department of the Vought-Sikorsky Company in Bridgeport, Conn. In 1942, she was awarded a Certificate of Honor in recognition of her service.

Ruth was both clever and talented. As a self-taught artist, she worked for the Erving Paper Mill in the art department, creating seasonal and corporate designs for several different products. Her designs were attractive and oftentimes conveyed a wry sense of humor.

She also worked for the U.S. Post Office in Erving for many years.

Ruth and her late husband “Rod” loved to be in nature. Their favorite vacation spot was their cabin at Laurel Lake where they entertained and enjoyed the beauty of the lake and surrounding woods.

Ruth loved to do the daily crosswords and Sudoku puzzles in the newspaper and achieved a master level.
