ASB donates $10,000 to Athol Area YMCA

ATHOL — For over a decade, Athol Savings Bank has made significant contributions to support its local YMCA, an organization that aids in youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Recently, the 148-year-old community bank generously donated $10,000 to the Athol Area YMCA to help fund its vital youth programs.

“We are proud to support the Athol Area YMCA, which does so much for families and youth within the region. The YMCA provides meaningful experiences and promotes healthy lifestyles to adolescents which lends itself to strong and stable communities,” said Debra Vescovi, Athol Savings Bank senior vice president of real estate lending/compliance & CRA Officer. “We are so grateful to have a YMCA right in our neighborhood.”

Over the past 10 years, the bank has provided the YMCA with over $60,000 in grants to support youth initiatives. These funds have allowed the YMCA to offer camperships at Camp Wiyaka, a residential summer camp located in the picturesque hills of Richmond, N.H., where children have the opportunity to progress developmentally within nature. In addition, the donations make after-school programs affordable for local families who require financial assistance. The youth sports leagues directed by the YMCA also benefit from the bank’s philanthropy by subsidizing costs for participants.

“Athol Savings Bank is a long-time supporter of the YMCA. We appreciate its recognition of the YMCA’s important work to help develop happy and healthy youth,” said Jeanette Robichaud, Athol Area YMCA executive director.

“With the continued support of businesses and organizations like Athol Savings Bank, we can continue the essential task of upholding the families of Central Massachusetts, for a bright future for our children, neighbors, and the community-at-large,” said Robichaud.
