Mahar's Birch awarded prestigious scholarship at Mass. State House
ORANGE — The Christian A. Herter Memorial Scholarship Program, established in 1972 by the Massachusetts State Legislature, recruits students in the 10th and 11th grades whose socioeconomic backgrounds and environmental conditions may inhibit their ability to attain educational goals.
Massachusetts students who demonstrate academic promise and desire to attend post-secondary institutions receive up to 50 percent of their calculated need at the college of their choice within the continental United States if selected for this prestigious program.
Over 500 students applied to the Christian A. Herter Memorial Scholarship but only 25 students were accepted.
The Ralph C. Mahar Regional School has announced that Hannah Birch, a junior, was awarded this scholarship at the State House in Boston on May 25 from a competitive pool of applicants. The school is thrilled that Hannah has been recognized at the state level for her academic merit and the district is eager to follow her educational next steps with the support of a generous scholarship behind her.
