No one injured in Phillipston vehicle fire

PHILLIPSTON — A vehicle fire reported Tuesday afternoon tied up traffic for some time, but no injuries were reported.

According to the Mass State Police, the fire was reported at 3:34 p.m. on Tuesday on Route 2 eastbound, near Highland Avenue Overpass in the area of the Athol/Phillipston line. The vehicle, a 2004 Dodge stratus, was operated by a 21-year-old from Orange.

The incident occurred in the breakdown lane and traffic was delayed while first responders brought the fire under control. No one was injured and the vehicle was towed from the scene. The fire remains under investigation.
