Relay for Life event ramping up

Relay For Life Greater Gardner is celebrating 30 years of walking to find a cure for cancer. We are so very proud of what the Greater Gardner area has accomplished during this time, including two years of a pandemic where everything was virtual, and we still raised funds for the American Cancer Society to help provide money for research grants and patient care, such as Road to Recovery (see ACS.com for more information on this).

This year, our Relay is June 9 and June 10 at Mount Wachusett Community College, and our event committee is working feverishly to make this year the best. We have two very important goals, besides the obvious which is to raise as much money as possible for research and services.

The first is to have as many survivors pack that track as possible. We are asking all survivors to register in advance, by either going online to www.relayforlife.org/gtrgardnerma and clicking “Join this Relay” to sign up as a survivor, or by calling 1-800-227-2345 (then pressing option #4) and tell them you wish to sign up as a survivor for the Greater Gardner Relay in June. After signing up, you will then get an email that tells you how to get your purple shirt that signifies you are a cancer survivor. Remember, you become a survivor the moment you hear the words “You have cancer.”

Our second goal is to have this Relay as large as it was before. If you are new to Relay, or have participated in the past, we hope that this year you will consider joining or rejoining us either with a new team or join another team. It would be so great to see you!
