Two arraigned on charges from alleged home invasion in Athol

ATHOL—Two individuals have been arraigned on charges stemming from an alleged home invasion that occurred in Athol this past winter, according to the Athol Police Department.

Dante Machuca and Andrew Poor were arrested on Thursday, May 29, following the issuance of search warrants that resulted from a lengthy investigation by Athol Police with assistance of several local, state and federal agencies, including the FBI.

The two were arraigned in Orange District Court on May 30 and charged with home invasion, armed assault in a dwelling, armed assault to rob, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (handgun), assault and battery, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm without a license.

“The Athol Police Department would like to extend their thanks to all the agencies that assisted in this investigation, especially Athol Police Officers Paul Forand and Detective Sergeant Douglas Kaczmarczyk,” the department stated in an announcement.
