Open Quabbin team starts Jimmy Fund tourney with win over Leominster National

LEOMINSTER — The Quabbin Little League Open Jimmy Fund team defeated Leominster National 11-4 to open up the Jimmy Fund tournament on Monday, while Quabbin’s Rookie Jimmy Fund team opened its tournament with an 11-1 loss to Leominster American on Saturday.

Both open division teams consist of players ages 9 and 10 years old. The event also features a Rookie tournament for younger players and Sinclair tournament for 11 and 12 year olds.

The open tournament hosts teams from Leominster National, Lunenburg and Quabbin. There will be a tournament at the end of scheduled play, with the first set of games taking place on July 30 and the championship on Aug. 3.

The Rookie tournament consists of Quabbin and Leominster American.
