GARDNER — State police are continuing the search in a large wooded area for Aaron Pennington, the suspect in the Sunday shooting death of his wife, Breanne Pennington.

According to state police, the search is focused on a 175-acre area near Camp Collier in Gardner after Pennington’s BMW was found Monday night, 1,500 feet down a wooded trail off Kenton Street. The vehicle was unoccupied.

In a press conference held Tuesday afternoon, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early said the vehicle was found by a bow hunter who was going through the area. Camp Collier is a 585-acre Scout camp.

After a perimeter was established around the car, the State Police Special Tactical Operations (STOP) Team, MSP K9 Unit teams and the MSP Air Wing conducted a search of the surrounding wooded area and did not locate Pennington. The search was paused Tuesday evening and resumed on Wednesday. In a statement from the district attorney’s office, a murder warrant was filed in Gardner District Court on Wednesday.

State police added that detectives continue to pursue leads into Pennington’s whereabouts and the facts and circumstances of Breanne’s death at the couple’s home on Cherry Street in Gardner, on Sunday. According to the district attorney’s office, Gardner Police were called to the scene after the couple’s four children left the home and went to a neighbor’s house. When police arrived, they found Breanne deceased. The children are in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.

On Tuesday, Early asked for the public’s help in locating Pennington, specifically hunters with trail cams or any video surveillance, and requested the footage be turned over to the Gardner Police.

“It’s incredible how often how that these tips help us solve crimes, find people, so we’re asking the public for all of their help,” Early said.

Pennington is white, 6’2” tall and approximately 175 lbs., with blond hair and blue eyes. He may be armed with a firearm and should be considered armed and dangerous.
