Holy Week activities at Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church

ATHOL — Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 40 Island St., welcomes the community in celebration of Holy Week and Easter Sunday. Easter is the most significant event in the Christian church and commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after his crucifixion.

“We have some exciting things planned for the children and adults,” says Pastor Stacey Hartford, “including a visit from the Eater Bunny, an egg hunt outside on the church lawn and the debut of the Imagine Choir.”

The teen and young adult choir, directed by Kerrie Mason, will be performing during the Easter Sunday family service. Members of the church and local community are invited to participate in one – or all of the very special holiday events scheduled.

Palm Sunday, April 2 at 10:45 a.m.—Worship service in the Sanctuary. A special service recollecting the joy-filled entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem when his loyal followers cheered and waved palms in his support.

Good Friday, April 7 at 6 p.m.—Worship service in the Sanctuary. The trial and crucifixion will be remembered on Good Friday during a short service.

Easter Sunday, April 9 at 6 a.m.—Sunrise Service, outdoors on the grounds of Noel’s Nursery, located at 77 Tully Road in Orange.

10:15 a.m.—Egg Hunt and the Easter Bunny on the church lawn for children of all ages. Open to the public with plenty of fun and candy for everyone.
