Board of Health to consider home cemetery

WENDELL — The Board of Health has scheduled a public hearing for Thursday at 7 p.m. to solicit comments from abutters to a proposed home cemetery at 313 Farley Road.

The Board of Health has regulations that allow for home cemeteries, and the property owner is working with the board to ensure compliance with state statutes. The meeting will be held in the Wendell Town Office building at 9 Morse Village Road and virtually via Zoom. Anyone who is unable to attend the meeting but would like to submit a comment can do so by sending an email to boardofhealth@wendellmass.us. In-person attendees will be required to wear a mask, and N95 masks will be provided to those who do not have one.

Early voting hours start Saturday in Wendell

WENDELL — Early voting hours in advance of the Sept. 6 state primary are: Saturday, Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 2, from 3 to 5 p.m. All voting takes place at the Wendell Town Office building at 9 Morse Village Road.

Lt. gov. candidate to visit Orange

ORANGE — Eric Lesser, candidate for lieutenant governor, is slated to visit Stage on Main at 17 South Main St. on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 4 p.m. to hear from voters and to discuss his campaign. Refreshments will be served.

Lesser is one of three Democratic candidates for lieutenant governor on the Sept. 6 primary ballot.

He was born in Queens, New York, and raised in western Massachusetts. He earned a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard College and a law degree from Harvard Law School. He has taught at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Selectboard approves $6K gift to Wendell Free Library

WENDELL — At its meeting last week, the Wendell Selectboard approved a $6,000 gift to the Wendell Free Library from the Friends of the Wendell Free Library. This is an annual library payment on behalf of the Friends.
