So quickly the summer band season comes and goes. The final concert of the Quabbin Community Band was a smashing success with an array of Dixieland soloists — Scott Bryant, Jamie Mallioux, Toni Brown, Arnold Cerezo, Judy Schmitz, Mark Holloway, Beth Bryant, Dave Brown, Matt Boutin, Paul Varney, Steve Aliquo, Joe Orszulak and Jeff Nahkala taking the lead alternately as the band powered through one after another of the Dixieland favorites that it has been performing for close to 50 years, reported President Julie Rawson. The audience was the largest it has been, and was engaged from start to finish.

A special surprise occurred when director Margaret Reidy brought up two little guys to help conduct one of the pieces — each on his own chair and directing along with his own baton. These boys have been present for almost every concert and finally got to have their moment of fame on the bandstand.
