Camp Wiyaka to celebrate 100th anniversary Aug. 20

ATHOL — Athol Area YMCA Camp Wiyaka will be celebrating its Centennial Celebration Aug. 20, 2022 after having to delay a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Jennifer Gordon, Executive Director. The celebration will begin at 2 p.m. on the property located at 100 Sandy Pond Road, Richmond, N.H., and will conclude at 7:30 p.m. Activities for the day will include traditional camp activities, along with opportunities for reminiscing of the past 100 years.

Dexter Carlson has not only had the opportunity to attend camp but has served the on the Wiyaka Board for many years. During the past two years as president, Carlson, has seen the camp continue to blossom serving youth, even during the pandemic. Carlson states, “The love of Camp Wiyaka flows from generation to generation, offering youth across the region the opportunity to explore and develop the love of the great outdoors. We look forward to being able to continue many of the beloved traditions that we experienced as youth in the area.”

Gordon, the Athol Area YMCA executive director, added, “This is not only a celebration of the past, but a celebration of the future.
