Did you know that some libraries let you check out more than just books, movies or CDs? Joining this new trend, the Beals Memorial Library in Winchendon is officially launching its new Library of Things collection this month, kicking it off with a launch party. With this growing collection, patrons will be able to borrow from an assortment of useful objects.

On Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 3 p.m., the library will be celebrating the launch of their new Library of Things. Hang out at the library and check out the selection of useful items now available for patrons to borrow, including nine brand new Hotspots courtesy of the MBLC, hiking backpacks donated from the Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust, a sewing machine, a telescope, snowshoes, and even a Santa suit. This collection will allow cardholders the chance to borrow items that are useful but that they might not have the storage space or funds to purchase themselves or keep at their own home. The library will continue to add to the collection in the future, so check back often to see what’s new.

Masks are required inside the library, which is located at 50 Pleasant St. in Winchendon. For more information, call the library at 978-297-0300, email at bealsmemoriallibrary@gmail.com, or visit their website at bealslibrary.org.
