There’s a new champion in the Suburban League West.

After starting 7-0 in league play, the Pioneer baseball team needed a win over Hopkins Academy on Monday as well as a Frontier victory over Hampshire to seal up the league title, as every team would have three league losses with two games to go.

The Redhawks pulled out a victory while Panthers freshman Jackson Glazier went the distance, striking out one and allowing five hits to lift Pioneer to a 2-0 victory.

“It feels good,” Panthers coach Kevin Luippold said. “The boys are happy. It’s a testament to how hard they’ve worked. They knew they’d be going against really good competition, every game in this league. It feels like every one has been a tough one and a lot have come down to final pitch. It’s a good feeling for the boys knowing we can compete with anybody.”

Both Pioneer (13-2, 8-0) runs came in the second inning. Evan Tsipenyuk tallied two hits while Ethan Mauthe and Jackson Campbell rounded out the Panthers’ four hits on Monday.

Frontier 11, Hampshire 7 — Grayson Loos blasted three hits while Jack Conlon smashed a pair of doubles as the Redhawks pulled out a Suburban League West triumph over the Raiders in Westhampton Monday.

Nico Fasulo tallied a pair of hits, Rosco Palmer and Wyatt Edes both recorded a hit and two RBIs while Tyler Cusson and Porter Hall each had a hit and an RBI for Frontier. Cusson led the way with six strikeouts on the mound.

Greenfield 6, Easthampton 4 — Trailing 4-2 going into the sixth, Luca Siano cracked  a two-run double to tie the game for the Green Wave. Deven Dubie blasted a triple to score Malik Moore before John Marchefka grounded out to score Dubie, helping Greenfield earn a comeback Suburban League West win in Easthampton Monday.
