Several Athol-area locations to open as warming centers this weekend

ATHOL -— In expectation of dangerously low temperatures this Friday and Saturday, several locations in Athol will be opened as warming centers, according to information sent by the town. The National Weather Service is expecting a high of 21 degrees Fahrenheit on Friday and a low of -8. Temperatures on Saturday will range from a high of 13 degrees to a low of 8. All locations are in the Town of Athol.

■ Athol Council on Aging, 82 Freedom St.—Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

■ North Quabbin Chamber of Commerce, 80 Freedom St.—Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

■ North Quabbin Community Coalition, 251 Exchange St.—Friday, 9 a.m.-2:30 pm

■ Valuing Our Children, 217 Walnut St.—Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

■ Patch Family Center, 109 Lumber St.—Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

■ Athol Public Library, 568 Main St.—Friday, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

■ YMCA of Athol, 545 Main St.—Friday, 12 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday, 7 a.m.-4 p.m.

■ Salvation Army of Athol, 107 Ridge Ave., Friday, 9 a.m.-noon, may have shelter resource.

Phone charging will be available at all sites. The public is asked to be respectful of open hours and staff at every center.
