ATHOL — James Blackmore is a 67-year-old artist, currently living in Templeton, whose art transcends labels and can not be defined or limited to any one style, genre or medium.

Blackmore’s works are on display in the Conference Room of the Athol Public Library during February.

A public reception will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25, 5:30-6:30 p.m. with light refreshments. Blackmore will sketch caricatures of any attendees for a small fee.

Blackmore’s work is deeply influenced by the world around him and is infused with the vibrant colors, textures, and subtle nuances of his subject matter.

His love of art was cultivated during his teenage years when he would sit for hours, spontaneously sketching found objects, nature, friends, and strangers — anything and anyone that inspired him to create.

You will come to realize, as you view this showcase of work, that Blackmore is an extremely visual artist. His art has the uncanny ability of capturing, in photographic detail, the true essence of his subjects, while at the same time embracing a distinct interpretive style.
