Youth basketball: Season tips off for Athol Area YMCA

The Athol Area YMCA tipped off its youth basketball program on Saturday with a full slate of games for kindergartners to eighth-graders.

In the kindergarten and first grade division, the 76ers beat the Spurs 22-10.

Kayden Rodriguez scored 12 points in the win.

Noah Beauregard was the leading scorer for the Spurs with six points.

Thunder 16, Timberwolves 14 — Hunter Kuehl’s 12 points led the Thunder in a close win over the Timberwolves.

Ayzia Britt had six points for the Timberwolves.

Boys Grades 2-4

Rockets 24, Raptors 10 — The Rockets were too much for the Raptors, as Jackson Burnham and Joshua Kane both scored 12 points in the victory.

Dillion Boudreau topped the Raptors with eight points.

Lakers 32, Bulls 0 — Defense led the way in a win for the Lake Show.

Coltin Fausett’s had 12 points for the Lakers.

Pacers 14, Blazers 0 — Brody Brockney scored six points in the win for the Pacers.

Warriors 20, Kings 0 — Moziah Calypso’s 14 points was tops in the win for the Warriors.

Girls Grades 2-4

Cavaliers 32, Knicks 24 — Leah Lacasse’s 22 points led the Knickerbockers in a loss to the Cavaliers.

Morgan Ashburn led the Cavs with 10 points.

Hornets 24, Nets 6 — The Hornets buzzed past the Nets in the win.

The Hornets got 12 points apiece from Ella Reeves and Hannah Cardoso.

Ella Reed paced the Nets’ offense with four points.

Grades 5-8

Nuggets/Pistons 26, Wizards/Grizzlies 25 — The game went down to the wire as Brandon Oullet led all scorers with 16 points.
