WINCHENDON — During the 2018 Sinclair Jimmy Fund tournament season, there was Winchendon and then everyone else.

Winchendon entered the championship game against Quabbin without a loss and with a commanding win in its first matchup of the single elimination tournament. The tournament’s No. 1 team averaged 15.8 runs per game while giving up only 35 total runs (5 runs per game). It all proved too much for second-seeded Quabbin, losing 11-1 on Sunday in the championship game of the 2018 Sinclair Jimmy Fund tournament.

Winchendon entered the game with a 6-0 regular season record, defeating North Leominster 18-2 in the first round of the tournament. Winchendon then scored 11 runs, almost five runs fewer than its average, in the championship game.

Quabbin scored only two runs after scoring eight against third-seed Chuck Stone Little League in its opening matchup. Quabbin averaged 5.85 runs per game going into the matchup while giving up 48 runs (eight runs per game). They entered the tournament with a 3-3 record.

The two teams had faced each other twice before Sunday’s championship. Winchendon took both games, the first time 19-2 and then 7-2 six days later.

Winchendon finished the season with a perfect 8-0 record. Quabbin finished the season with a 4-4 record.
