Baring any late changes, the UMass women’s basketball team will play four nonconference games before opening Atlantic 10 Conference play on Dec. 28.

The Minutewomen will visit Bryant on Wednesday to open their season. They will also play at UMass Lowell (Nov. 28), at New Hampshire (Dec. 10) and home against St. John’s (Dec. 13) before entering their conference schedule.

The 2020-21 Atlantic 10 women’s basketball schedule will feature 18 games for the first time, the league announced Thursday.

Teams will partner with another school to reduce travel and provide two opponents in regionalized road trips. Home teams will face one team Friday and another Sunday during the regular season.

UMass is partnered with Rhode Island and will host the Rams to open their conference slate on Dec. 28. The Minutewomen will start 2021 at St. Joseph’s on New Years Day. On Jan. 3 they visit La Salle. (URI is at La Salle on Jan. 1 and at Saint Joseph’s on Jan. 3.)

UMass will host both Davidson (Jan. 8) and Fordham (Jan. 10) before a stretch of four straight road games. The Minutewomen will travel to VCU and Richmond on Jan. 15 and 17, then follow that with a western swing to Dayton (Jan. 22) and Saint Louis (Jan. 24).

UMass plays six of its final nine conference games at the Mullins Center.

VCU is hosting the 2021 Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship from March 3-7 in Richmond, Virginia.

UMass was picked fifth in the conference preseason poll after landing in that same spot to end last year. The Minutewomen reached the quarterfinals of the 2020 A-10 tournament before falling to Saint Louis.

Three starters are back from that team, led by preseason first-team all-conference selection Sam Breen, who was granted a sixth season of eligibility over the summer.

BROADCAST INFO — National, regional and local television coverage will be announced at a later date. All games not carried as part of the A-10’s national television package will be streamed through the Atlantic 10’s partnership with ESPN+.

The Atlantic 10 and CBS Sports extended their television partnership for three years, the league announced Thursday.

The agreement provides a potential 76 men’s and women’s basketball games to be broadcast.
